Background

Emilio Fernandez joined North American Title Group in April 2002 as Executive Vice President. He is responsible for general legal affairs, federal and state compliance programs, and national corporate initiatives. He also has been instrumental in the growth of the company through his involvement in numerous title agency acquisitions. In March 2005, in addition to his duties as EVP of the parent company, Emilio was named President of North American Title’s two underwriters, North American Title Insurance Company and North American Title Insurance Corporation, which were later merged under the North American Title Insurance Company (NATIC) brand. Recently, he was named president of the company’s affiliated property and casualty agency, North American Advantage Insurance Services, LLC (NAAIS).
 
Prior to joining North American Title, Emilio was a partner in the real estate department of the international law firm, Holland & Knight LLP. His practice included acquisition and sale of commercial and residential real estate, institutional and private real estate financing, leasing, condominium development and title matters.
 
Emilio is admitted to practice in the State of Florida and is a member of the Florida Bar, Dade County Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Cuban American Bar Association. He is an AV-rated lawyer, the highest rating given to practicing attorneys by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. In 2012, he was named one of South Florida’s Top Rated Real Estate Lawyers as published by LexisNexis. He is also a member of the United Way of Miami-Dade County, where he serves on the Young Leaders Society.
 
He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration cum laude in finance in 1990 from the University of Miami, where he was the recipient of the Bowman F. Ashe Scholarship and the Irene Sands Scholarship. He received a Master of Business Administration in 1991 from the University of Miami and earned his Juris Doctor cum laude in 1994 from New York Law School, where he was the Executive Articles Editor of the Journal of International and Comparative Law.
